Maureen FitzSimons's early accomplishments in the performing arts, that we now know to be Maureen O'Hara, would certainly have qualified her to be in her place in the "child prodigy" category. But for a young Irish girl with talented parents and extended families, these qualities were naturally. Maureen came to this loving refuge on the 17th of August 1920. She was raised by the family of her parents. Marguerita FitzSimons was an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer club in Ireland and ran the Shamrock Rovers soccer club and a Dublin business. Maureen was the second child of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen did well in sports and enjoyed playing rough sports. Her passion was coupled with an unnatural talent for performing. That was apparent that she was the winner of every Feis in drama and theatre which Ireland could provide. When she was 14, she had been admitted to the Abbey Theater, where her ambition was to study the art of opera and classical theatre.
